"You can only become truly accomplished at something you love. Don’t make money your goal. Instead, pursue the things you love doing, and then do them so well that people can’t take their eyes off you." –Maya Angelou http://www.forbes.com/sites/robertberger/2014/04/30/top-100-money-quotes-of-all-time/
Money can buy you all the materialistic things of
the world but it cannot buy relations, happiness, health, talent, etc. We work
for money because it is not possible to live in this world without paying off
your daily expenses. We have many expenses like rent of the house, electricity
bill, insurance expense, and taxes and so on, the list is endless. But wait for
a second and think about it… do we pay all this just for ourselves? Of course
not. Most of the people do jobs and earn money to support their families. So
basically all the hard work one do is for the people he/she loves and cares
for. It is clear from this that it is not the money that motivates people but
the love for they’re near and dear ones that keep them moving.
For some people money may act as a motivator but
after a certain point they will definitely realize that money is not everything
and life isn’t just about how rich you financially are.
It is said that “make your passion your
profession”. By doing so you would not work for salaries or wages but you would
do your job because you love to do it. It will be the essence of your life. All
you would expect in return from your work would be recognition, praise and
positive remarks.
There are other things that can motivate people
instead of money like job appraisals, recognition, awards, etc. You cannot
always let money buy your talent. Your worth is not known from how much you
earn but from the fact that how far can you go with your hard work.
Climbing the ladder of success with your hard work
is something that strugglers want. This is what motivates them. Being fairly
rewarded for the work done by them gives them immense pleasure and they work
with all their hearts for future growth. Cooperation, loving words, being
recognized, being praised, etc. motivates more than being given money for what
you do.
This videos shows that many studies have shown as we are paid more for tasks, our performance actually worsens (except for incredibly basic tasks). So maybe there’s a specific level of motivation that’s just right for everyone, and going above or below that worsens our performance.
