MILKHA SINGH: A TRUE MOTIVATOR.

Very few people know Milkha Singh but every Indian has a great respect for this person who proved himself and struggled through a lot. He has achieved great heights of success and has suffered a lot. He is also known as ‘The flying Sikh’.


BIRTH: Milkha Singh was born on October 17, 1935 in Lyallpur [now Faisalabad], Pakistan), Indian Olympic style sports competitor who turned into the first Indian male to achieve the last of an Olympic games occasion when he set fourth in the 400-meter race at the Rome 1960 Olympic Games.

EARLY LIFE: Stranded amid the part of India, Singh moved to India from Pakistan in 1947. He squeezed out a living by meeting expectations in a roadside restaurant before joining the Indian armed force. It was in the armed force that Singh understood his capacities as a sprinter. In the wake of winning the national trials in the 200-meter and 400-meter sprints, he was disposed of amid the preparatory warms for those occasions at the Melbourne 1956 Olympic games.

ACHIEVEMENTS: At the 1958 Asian Games, Singh won both the 200-meter and 400-meter races. Later that year he caught the 400-meter gold at the Commonwealth Games, which was India's first games gold ever. He barely lost the bronze decoration in the 400 meters at the Rome 1960 Olympic games, passing up a major opportunity for third place in a neck and neck finish. Singh held his 400-meter gold at the 1962 Asian Games furthermore took an alternate gold as a component of India's 4 × 400-meter transfer group. He showed up at the 1964 Tokyo Games as a feature of the national 4 × 400 group that neglected to propel past preparatory warms.

AWARD: Singh was honored the Padma Shri (one of India's most elevated non military personnel respects) in 1959. After his retirement he served as the chief of games in Punjab.
